SENIOR WARDEN NOTES
How would Jesus like for us to celebrate December, the month of his birth? I cannot speak for him, of course, but I have a few ideas based on his teachings. He might enjoy a few of the fun things this month, such as Christmas cookies and get-togethers, but I believe that he would be much more pleased if we looked deeper and focused on his lessons. Let us live out his main teachings by always loving and caring for others, including those around us who may be struggling or lonely. It doesn’t cost anything to spend some time with someone who needs to know that they are seen and cared for. A kind word and smile can also go a long way. I think that Jesus might also want us to forgive others at this time of the year, which is another gift that doesn’t cost anything. How about serving others and volunteering? There are so many options for this both in our church and in our community. The gift of your time is one of the best gifts there is, and it truly makes a difference. Also, how about continuing these actions and gifts year-round, which would probably give Jesus the most joy. Our world is so hungry for the care and love that we can provide as the hands of our most blessed Savior, Jesus Christ.
Please join us this month of Advent for meaningful and beautiful services, including a special Christmas Eve Eucharist Service at 4 p.m. with Rev. Charlie Brumbaugh. Be sure to bring some family members and friends with you as we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas all month long. Wishing all of you a very blessed Advent, Christmas, and holiday season!
